What is an intensive driving course?
An intensive driving course is a fast-track way to learn to drive. Rather than taking weekly lessons over several months, you’ll complete focused daily training with an instructor over a shorter period, helping you build skills, confidence and experience more quickly.
At 5Day, this is combined with theory test training and dedicated support to help you progress towards becoming a safe and confident driver.
How does the 5Day intensive driving course work?
Is 5Day right for me?
Is this course suitable for beginners or nervous drivers?
I've already passed my theory test, should I still attend theory training?
Yes, it is still very much worthwhile. While you do not need to retake the test, theory training strengthens your knowledge, boosts your confidence, and helps you become a safer, smarter driver.
Do you offer an automatic intensive driving course?
Yes. Automatic intensive driving courses are available at many 5Day locations across the UK. This is ideal for learners who want a simpler driving experience or prefer automatic vehicles.
Why choose an intensive driving course over normal weekly lessons?
Intensive driving courses are ideal for learners who want to progress quickly and build confidence in a shorter period of time. With focused daily training, you can develop and retain your driving skills more effectively, without the long gaps between lessons that can lead to lost confidence or forgotten techniques.
Is this course suitable if I've failed my test before?
What if I've already had driving lessons?
Who supports me during my course besides my instructor?
Can I change my course date once it is booked?
I have already passed my theory test, do I get a discounted price?
Can I discuss my child’s or partner’s course with customer services?
Yes, but our contract is with the student, regardless of who pays for the course. To discuss course details or progress, the student must provide written permission. This ensures privacy and allows us to securely verify your identity before sharing any information.
What are payment options are there?
You can secure your place in two ways:Â
- Pay in full at the time of booking, or
- Pay a £200 deposit if your course is more than 4 weeks away, with the remaining balance due 4 weeks before your start date.
Do I need to pass my theory before starting?
No. Our expert in-house theory trainers will teach, prepare, and support you to pass your theory test with confidence, so there’s no need to have it completed before joining the course.
How do you match me with the right instructor?
Who do I contact if I have questions during my course?
Where do lessons start and do you pick me up?
Can I practice outside the course (e.g. with family)?
How experienced are your instructors?
All of our instructors are fully qualified, DVSA-approved professionals with extensive experience teaching learners of all ages and abilities. They have helped thousands of learners progress from complete beginners to qualified drivers, and will tailor their teaching approach to suit your individual needs, experience level and learning style.
What does a typical day look like on the 5Day course?
Will I have my practical driving test at the end of the 5Day course?
What happens if I'm not ready after 5 days?
We do not offer a guaranteed pass after 5 Days. Nor do any other providers, despite what they may say. Our DVSA-approved instructors will make an assessment of your readiness to book after 5 Days. If you are not ready, we can organise additional lessons with our instructors and have them support you further towards test readiness.
Will I forget to drive between finishing the course and my test?
Not at all. You now know how to drive! Our advice will always be to keep practising with a parent or a friend until your driving test and keep building on the skills you have been taught.
Do you provide support if I don't pass first time?
How long will I wait for a driving test?
Driving test waiting times vary depending on your chosen test centre and the availability in your area.
As of 12th May 2026, driving schools and instructors can no longer book practical driving tests on behalf of learners. This means all learners must book and pay for their own test directly through the DVSA.
We’ll guide you through the process, advise you on when you’re ready to book and support you every step of the way, but the test booking itself must be made by you.
