Frequently Asked Questions
Will I have my practical driving test at the end of
the 5Day course?
the 5Day course?
No. A practical driving test should only be arranged by you once a DVSA-approved 5Day instructor has assessed and confirmed that you are test-ready. This is a legal and safety requirement for use of a 5Day vehicle for the test.
If you believe you are ready, you are of course free to book and take a test in your own vehicle without instructor approval.
Why choose 5Day over normal weekly lessons?
All 5DAY locations work with a fantastic team of approved driving instructors and tutors who provide professional online theory training and practical briefs. Both male and female instructors are available. Training is offered in either manual or automatic vehicles, depending on the instructor and vehicle available at the time of booking. While preferences can be noted, specific combinations of instructor gender and transmission type cannot be guaranteed.
Will I be test-ready at the end of the 5Day course, and can I really learn to drive in 5 days?
That all depends on you! Everyone learns at different rates, where some require additional training or more practice after the course to get to the required standard, while others do not.
On average, the people who pass first time are those who have continued practising after the course while they wait for their test date or pay for additional lessons should they not be test-ready at the end of the course. We do offer a 10-day driving course, which is fantastic value for money with added benefits, offering 40 hours of driving in two weeks. Ask our sales team to find out more.
How do the free corrective lessons work?
If you fail your first driving test, you have two options available to you:
- You can take the free corrective lessons to correct what you failed on, and then, when you and your instructor are happy, apply for a retest.
- Alternatively, you may book a new test yourself and notify the test team of the date and your car hire requirements.
Don’t just take our word for it…
We’re proud to have helped over 79,000 learners pass since 2002.
I needed an intensive course to see the progress I was looking for over adhoc weekly lessons which were taking too long. This is a great option if you are an older learner. I picked 5day intensive course as some others you share a car with another learner and this is 1-1 which is what’s needed, so be aware of this when assessing other options.

I’ve done the 5day crash course which I have found very simple and easy. My Instructer Stephanie (St Helens) was a great tutor who was very patient and personable. She made the driving easy and made me feel comfortable doing all the manoeuvres, repetitively and clearly. She made me feel at ease throughout and gave me a great understanding on driving for the future.

I really recommend 5day, my instructor James from Peterborough was great and understood my worries and anxiousness with driving (with only a few hours of lessons prior) made me feel at ease and explained things and showed me things in the best way for me and had plenty of patience which was very much needed. I’ve come from this course more confident than i thought i ever would’ve been especially in 5 days.

Really worthwhile driving course which was efficiently run. Tony our instructor was professional and made the course fun and rewarding. He provided sound practical advice and invaluable advice concerning the test routes.
This course was much better than having a lesson a week for months on end. As a result the test was passed so quickly. I would thoroughly recommend Tony.

had an excellent experience doing a 5 day driving course with David Riselli. He was patient and gave clear instructions and explanations, which greatly improved my confidence in driving over the 5 day period, and I feel I am now well prepared to take a test. I would highly recommend this course, and instructor!
