How does your intensive driving course work?
Learn to drive in just 5 days with a schedule built for progress:
First, you’ll receive a short questionnaire to help us match you with the right instructor for your needs. Then, you’ll receive a welcome pack with everything you need to know before your course begins.
Meet your instructor at your confirmed pick-up point and begin your intensive driving tuition.
10:00am–12:00pm: 1-to-1 driving tuition*
12:00pm–12:30 pm: Lunch break*
12:30pm–2:30pm: 1-to-1 driving tuition*
You’ll also begin your online theory training in the evening.
*Times may vary slightly by location.
Continue with four hours of 1-to-1 practical tuition each day, developing your driving skills and confidence with your instructor.
Your training is tailored to your ability and progress, so the areas you cover may differ from another learner.
If required, your online theory training continues each evening Monday–Thursday.
Finish your course by building on everything you’ve learned throughout the week and putting your skills into practice with your instructor.
Your Approved Driving Instructor will then review your progress and, if you’re ready, give you the go-ahead to book your practical test.
As of 12 May 2026, new DVSA rules mean that only the learner can book, change or cancel their practical driving test. This means 5Day is no longer able to manage test bookings on a learner’s behalf.
But don’t worry – we’ll still be with you every step of the way. Our team will guide you on when to book, how to do it and what to consider when choosing your test date.
Once your test is booked, simply let us know the date and time and we’ll help make sure everything is in place for test day.
If we’ve approved you as test ready and you don’t pass your first practical test while using our vehicle, we’ll continue to support you with free corrective lessons.*
Your instructor will focus on any serious or dangerous faults highlighted by the examiner, helping you build your confidence, strengthen those areas and get ready for your next attempt.

Do you offer manual AND automatic courses?
Yes! Learners can choose between automatic or manual transmission.

Do I have my practical driving test at the end of the course?
No, the timing of your practical test in relation to your course will depend on a number of factors, including your course type (5 Day, Two-phase or 10 day) and the local test waiting times in your chosen area.
For learners concerned about test wait times, we recommend choosing our two-phase course, which enables you to take your theory first and return for your practical course nearer to your test date.

How long do I have to wait for my practical driving test?
Current practical driving test waiting times across the UK are at an all time high. At 5Day, we understand this may leave you with a few questions.
As part of our mission to make learning to drive more accessible for everyone, we offer a two-phase course, designed to help reduce the time in which learners wait for a test, after their course.
It works by the learner completing their theory with us first, securing their practical test date next, and then returning to complete their practical course closer to their test date.

I needed an intensive course to see the progress I was looking for over adhoc weekly lessons which were taking too long. This is a great option if you are an older learner. I picked 5day intensive course as some others you share a car with another learner and this is 1-1 which is what’s needed, so be aware of this when assessing other options.
